Two children were killed and their parents injured after the roof of a room in which they were sleeping caved in on the premises of a dyeing factory near Islamabad area on the intervening night of Sunday and Monday.
The victims have been identified as Neeraj (8) and Ankur (5), sons of Sanjay Mishra and Manisha, who hail from Uttar Pradesh. Mishra worked at the factory and had only two children.
Divulging details, additional deputy commissioner of police (ADCP-2) Ketan Patil said: “The roof caved in in the midnight when the family was sleeping in a room on the premises of Raju Dyeing Unit. The children died on the spot, while their parents were rushed to a hospital after clearing debris.”
Notably, the roof of the room in which the family was sleeping was in a bad shape since long.
Police claimed that the parents were undergoing treatment at a local private hospital and their condition was said to be stable.
Patil said, “A station house officer (SHO) had gone to the spot and proceedings will be initiated under section 174 (police to inquire and report on suicide, etc) of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC).”
