A day after six people, including Satlok Ashram head Rampal's key aide OP Hooda, were arrested, the Hisar police on Friday took into custody a couple from Uttar Pradesh, who had left their firearm inside the Barwala-based ashram.

Shyam Sunder and his wife Sangeeta, who hail from a village in Agra district in UP, came to Barwala police station in Hisar and said they had come to the ashram on November 7 with the former's licensed firearm.

The police said he submitted that his weapon was not returned when he wanted to leave the ashram after the administration's action.

He had come out of the ashram on November 18 with several other inmates after the doors were opened. Sources said Shyam Sunder is an ex-servicemen and several others firearms licence holders like him had given their weapons to unauthorised persons, who used these against police when the latter went to arrest Rampal.
