Two of family killed, 3 injured as SUV rams into car in Mohali
Two cousins were killed and their nephew and his two aunts were injured in a collision between their Alto and a Duster at the Spice Chowk, Industrial Area, Phase-7, in SAS Nagar on Wednesday late night.

The deceased — Rajesh Kumar (42) and Babloo (40) — were vegetable sellers at Apni Mandis across the city and are residents of Mohali village. The Duster driver is unidentified and fled the spot, leaving the vehicle behind.
The injured Rajinder and his aunts — Sharda and Rita — are admitted at the GMCH Sector 32, in Chandigarh.
“We have registered a case on complaint of Rajinder, of Mohali village, the driver of the Alto, against the unidentified driver of the Duster that bears the registration number of Ludhiana.
Rajinder is the nephew of the deceased.
A case has been registered under Sections 279 (rash driving or riding on public way) and 304 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder),” said Phase-1 station house officer NPS Lehal. The Alto overturned and bounced on the road before hitting the divider.
Rajinder told the police that they were returning to Mohali village from the ESI Hospital in Phase 7 after seeing a relative when the accident took place.
Rajesh and Babloo are from Bareilly (Uttar Pradesh) and stayed at rent in Mohali village. Rajesh died on the spot while Babloo was declared dead at the hospital.
The police have impounded the damaged vehicles and is tracing the owner of the Duster.
The office of the local district transport officer (DTO) and the Ludhiana DTO have been alerted and there will soon be progress in the case, said a police source.
