Shang Ming Chiu and Puneet Kaur from Sacred Heart Convent School, Sarabha Nagar, have brought laurels to the city by bagging all-India ranks (AIR) 69 and 104, respectively, in the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) entrance test, results for which were declared on Wednesday.
Chiu, who aspires to become a scientist, was happy to attain 69th rank in AIIMS entrance test and owes his success to his teachers, parents and school. The national table tennis player had earlier made the city proud by ranking 26th in the All India Pre-Medical Test (AIPMT). He also ranked number 10 in the Christian Medical College and Hospital test. Chiu had scored 94% in Class 12.
Kaur, who had attained rank 34 in the AIPMT, said, “I am looking forward to the counselling next week and am expecting to get admission to any of the remaining six AIIMS.”
Both Chiu and Kaur are hopeful of gaining admission to any of the remaining six AIIMS, since they will not be eligible for AIIMS, New Delhi, which has 70 seats out of which 37 are for the general category students.
In the remaining six AIIMS in Bhopal, Patna, Jodhpur, Rishikesh, Raipur and Bhubaneshwar, there are 602 MBBS seats out of which 300 seats are available for general category students.
