Two undertrials booked for assaulting head constable in Ludhiana

The division number 5 police booked two undertrials for assaulting head constable who recovered four cigarettes from them, when he frisked them at court complex on Monday.

The accused have been identified as Mani Kumar of Rahon Road and Buta Singh of New Kuldeep Nagar.

A case under Sections 353 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty), 186 (obstructing public servant in discharge of public functions), 506 (criminal intimidation) and 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) has been registered against the accused.

The case has been registered following the statement of head constable Joginder Pal. Pal said he had brought the accused to court complex from Ludhiana central jail for hearing of a case.

When he frisked the accused at court complex, he found four cigarettes from their pockets. Meanwhile, the accused also thrashed and slapped Pal.
