Two undertrials give the slip to 4-member police team

Two undertrials escaped from the custody of a four-member Ferozepur police team, outside the gate of Faridkot modern jail on the Amritsar-Faridkot road on the outskirts of the town, on Wednesday.


Devinder Singh from Bambiha Bhai village, Moga, and Nishan Singh, from Ruknewala village, Ferozepur district, made good their escape in a grey Maruti Zen as soon as the group alighted from a bus opposite the jail, having traveled to Ferozepur for a hearing.

The accomplices were armed and brandished weapons and arms to ensure that the there was no hitch. A cop was reportedly injured in the attack.

"The police are investigating the case from all the possible angles. A case against the escaped undertrails has been registered under relevant Sections of the IPC," said Bahadur Singh, SP (detective) Faridkot.
