The Muktsar police, on Thursday, claimed to have arrested two vehicle thieves and recovered 13 stolen motorcycles from their possession.
According to the police, the two accused were arrested at a check point on the Abohar road while they were riding two motorcycles without registration numbers and without any documents.
"The arrested have been identified as Sahil Kumar alias Sonu, a resident of Bura Gujjar road, Muktsar, and his accomplice Sukhjinder Singh, a resident of Bhagsar village of the district. They have been booked under Section 379/411 of IPC," said Surjit Singh, senior superintendent of police, Muktsar.
Mostly, they used to hide the stolen bikes at their homes and used to tell their neighbours that they were dealing in the sale-purchase of motorcycles, the SSP said.
"The stolen motorcycles were then sold on fake affidavits to naïve people from villages," the SSP added.
