Two women fall prey to snatchers

Two snatchings were reported in the city on Monday.

In the first incident, Sunita Bhardwaj, 53, a resident of Jalandhar, reported that two motorcycle-borne men snatched her purse containing Rs 15,000 cash, when she was stepping down from a rickshaw in the B block of Bhai Randhir Singh Nagar at around 1pm on Monday.

Meanwhile, Sarabha Nagar police have started the proceedings to register case against unidentified persons after getting the complainant from the victim.

In second incident, two motorcycle-borne accused snatched purse from a woman in Ghumar Mandi at 5pm. Immediately after the incident, victim Pooja, a resident of Green Field, Dandi Swami Chowk, called police control number, but the phone was not attended. Helping her, a shopkeeper informed division number 8 police station SHO.

In her complaint to the police, Pooja stated that she was crossing the road when two persons on a motorcycle without number plate snatched her purse containing Rs 4,500 cash, important documents and a mobile phone.

Police said the miscreants have been captured in the CCTV cameras installed at the nearby establishments, and investigations were on.
