UGC approves two new professional courses in Khalsa College

The Khalsa College here will start two new courses for the upcoming academic season 2014-15. The University Grants Commission, New Delhi has given approval to two new degree courses namely bachelor of vocation in software development and bachelor of vocation in food processing and engineering.

The college has got the grant from the UGC, New Delhi around `1.85 crore. Candidates with 50% marks in 10+2 (any stream) are eligible for these courses and there are 30 seats for each course.

Principal of the college Dharminder Singh Ubha said: "Students who will clear first year will be given a diploma certificate, students clearing second year will be given advance diploma certificate and those who will clear three year degree course will be awarded bachelor of vocation degree."

He further added: "Under the guidelines of the ministry of human development, the UGC had given instructions to various universities of the country to start new professional courses in order to strengthen the educational system in India and according to that the UGC approved the professional courses in the four colleges of the Punjabi University."
