A United Kingdom resident was booked on Sunday along with three others for allegedly cheating a Patiala based seed farm owner.
One of them was the resident of Delhi and other two were also from abroad. They were booked by Patiala police for allegedly cheating a farm owner of Rs 98 lakh by not paying him the price of seeds.
The accused have been identified as Dr Sunita Green, a resident of United Kingdom (UK), Dr OP Sharma, a resident of Delhi, Mark Johnson and Rajesh Sharma; both are residents of unidentified foreign country.
The victim lodged a complaint on February 9 against the accused persons for allegedly cheating him of Rs 98 lakh.
He stated that the accused persons lured him into the business of expensive seeds of various varieties and they had some deals on their offered prices.
He also stated that in the preliminary phase, they themselves brought the seeds and after building trust, duped him.
The case was registered under the Sections 406 (punishment for criminal breach of trust), 420 (cheating) and 120 B of the Indian Penal Code at Patiala Civil Lines police station.
Police said raids are being conducted to nab the absconding accused and investigations are underway.
