Ultrasonologists in Punjab required to clear competency test before Dec 31

Ultrasonologists working in Punjab will have to clear a test to be conducted by Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, Faridkot, before December 31, failing which they would not be registered under the Pre-conception and Pre-natal Diagnostic Techniques (PC-PNDT) Act.

Ultrasonologists working in Punjab will have to clear a test to be conducted by Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, Faridkot, before December 31, failing which they would not be registered under the Pre-conception and Pre-natal Diagnostic Techniques (PC-PNDT) Act.

Radiologists and gynecologists have been exempted from taking the test. The decision was taken at a meeting of the State Supervisory Board under the PC-PNDT Act which was chaired by principal secretary, health, Vini Mahajan. “Those who don’t clear the test will be required to undergo six-month training at five medical colleges in state,” she added.

The test will be held in June and August. The date for the test will be will be announced by secretary, medical education and research, Hussan Lal. There are around 842 candidates who will be required to take the test, she said.
