Shallu Chohan, who has been arrested on charges of raping his three-year-old niece, has not committed the crime reveals initial circumstantial evidence, sources said.

Hoshiarpur Civil Hospital medical report, dated September 10, states that the patient is admitted because of alleged sexual assault as told by mother about five days ago at Nakodar. It says that hymen of patient is intact and there are no external injuries on external genital. Report mentions that vaginal swabs are being taken to be sent to chemical examiner.

Sources revealed that the accused had not sexually assaulted the child but mercilessly beat her as she urinated and excreted on bed. He beat the child on instigation from the victim's mother, who has illicit relations with the accused. They said as blows were heavy these might have ruptured the girl's intestines.

They also said that the child was admitted in a Jalandhar children clinic where she was treated for a day and was referred to Punjab Institute of Medical Sciences, adding, that the she was not admitted there as her parents could not deposit Rs10000 as advance money for her treatment.

The mother took the child to Hoshiarpur where her condition deteriorated and eventually she was admitted to civil hospital on September 10. Sources also said that the mother of the child leveled false allegation of rape against her alleged paramour out of vengeance and under intense pressure from her community members.

A special investigation team was constituted keeping on Saturday to probe the case.
