Jalandhar: Uncle of Congress leader, Rana Randhawa, kills self

Pavitar Singh, 60-year-old, an uncle of Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPSC) general secretary Rana Randhawa committed suicide by shooting himself with his license .32-bore revolver in Randhawa Masanda village of the district on Sunday morning.

Pavitar Singh, 60-year-old, an uncle of Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPSC) general secretary Rana Randhawa committed suicide by shooting himself with his license .32-bore revolver in Randhawa Masanda village of the district on Sunday morning.

The deceased shot himself in the head.

The incident occurred at 7 am when the victim’s family members were sleeping in other rooms.

The family members rushed to the room after hearing the noise of firearm and found Singh in the pool of blood. They called a local doctor from the village but Singh succumbed to injuries.

Randhawa told HT his uncle was regularly taking medication for his health issues. We are in shock and do not know why uncle took the extreme step, he told.

The cops from Maqsudan police station rushed there and recorded the statement of family members. Later the body was sent to civil hospital for postmortem.

The victim was a farmer and had one son and two daughters in the family and all were married.
