Despite strict regulations of the Supreme Court to cover the bore well soon after its installation, the Patiala municipal Corporation seems to have turned a blind eye to the direction as it left a newly installed several feet deep tubewell uncovered.

The negligence of the department concerned could be gauged from the fact that the authorities failed to cover tubewell in children park at B-tank area in ward number 28.

As per mandatory norms, the authorities have to fill bore well after the installation of tubewell with mixture of gravel.

Meanwhile, a random visit to the spot revealed that the recent rainfall eroded the mud near the tubewell widening the hole which poses serious threat to the lives of children playing in the park.

As per available information, the tube well was installed 25 days ago by employees of the water supply and sanitation department but was not covered despite its functioning since then.

Harpal Singh, a local resident said it was dangerous as small kids play and their safety is at stake with the callous attitude of the authorities.

Ramesh Kapla, president of the Mauhla Sudhar committee said they have informed the authorities many a times about the problem but to no avail as the hole is still unattended.

Despite several attempts, Suresh Kumar, SDO of water supply and sanitation could not be contacted.
