Owing to the alleged police pressure to settle the case, the family of a suicide victim of Dhanauri village in Jind has fled the village.

Notably, after the woman ended her life, 11 people were booked, including four serving policemen and two retired cops, on the basis of her suicide note. Earlier, the victim had approached the police with a complaint that two men of the same village, Kalu Ram and Ramesh Kumar, had barged into her house and attempted to molest her in April 2013. After the Jind police failed to act against the accused, the woman had staged a dharna outside the DGP office in Panchkula.

The woman ended her life by consuming poison on Thursday night in front of the house of the accused and held 11 people responsible for her taking the extreme step.

Victim's brother, Shamsher Singh said that after the registration of a case against police officials, they were under intense police pressure to settle the case and had no choice but to shift to a safer place.

Police had booked all the accused under section 306 (abetment to suicide) of the Indian Penal Code.
