Calling unemployment as the biggest challenge in Punjab, Congress MLA from Dhuri assembly segment Arvind Khanna on Monday slammed the state government for its failure to generate jobs for the youths.
Addressing the youth on the sidelines of a job fest organised by his 'Umeed Foundation' at Khanna, he said due to wrong policies of the government, the youth were not getting jobs and unemployment had become a major problem.
"It is ironical that the educated youth, who have spent lakhs of rupees on their education, are running from pillar to post to get a small job," said Khanna, adding, "but we at Umeed Foundation understand your problem. The fest will help talented youth get jobs."
On the first day of the five-day fest, as many as 250 candidates participated in interviews, of which 52 have been selected by various companies, whereas names of 20 candidates have been put on the waiting list.
