Students of BA final were shocked on Tuesday at being handed an examination paper of questions they never had studied. Students of BA-2, on the other hand, had to wait long to see the question paper, as a wrong code on the leaflets had confused invigilators. Chaos prevailed at Malwa College on Wednesday, thanks to some lapses on part of Punjabi University, Patiala.
A relaxation of an hour was given to students of BA-2, while the BA final examination was postponed. Until the physical education questions stumped the students of BA final, they and the college authorities were unaware of the changed syllabus. The test was cancelled, yes, but only when the students of Malwa College had submitted their papers.
"The students of BA-2 had nearly an hour more to complete the mathematics paper," said NK Gosain, dean, Malwa College. "The examination code on the question-paper sets was wrong. It failed to match with the code we had. Later, when the authorities concerned confirmed that the problems were not outside the syllabus."
"The students and authorities were unaware of the change in syllabus of physical education," said Gosain. "The university claims it informed all the colleges in advance."
Part A of the physical education paper was put in Part B. After students objected, the paper was postponed. The date for the new tests will be made clear in a day or two, as per the authorities concerned.
