UP resident booked for fraud with co-op bank

The district police have booked a person for allegedly committing a fraud with Punjab State Central Cooperative Bank's civil lines branch here.

The accused has been identified as Ravi Kumar, a resident of Firozabad district in Uttar Pradesh.

Sub-inspector Jarnail Singh at Civil Lines police station said on the basis of complaint by Jarnail Singh Bhullar, branch manager of the bank, police have registered case against the accused under Sections 420 and 465 of the IPC.

Bhullar has alleged that the accused fraudulently used a draft issued by the bank at the State Bank of India branch here and transferred `7 lakh to his account. During checking, it was found that the accused had tempered with the draft. The bank account of the accused has been sealed but he had already withdrawn Rs 5 lakh.
