Local Uttarakhand community organised a cultural programme to mark 'Uttarakhand Day' at the open air theatre of Punjabi Bhawan on Sunday.
Organised by the community's NGO since 1955, Garhwal Bharti Mandal (GBM), the event brought hundreds of Uttarakhand locals on a common platform who rejoiced every moment of the function that was packed with traditional folk events.
One of the organisers, Aman Joshi, said, “As we announced this event among our community members, their excitement knew no bounds. We had invited some of the very famous singers and artistes from Dehradun.”
At the end, GBM vice-president Harish Dhasmana and Surya Prakash Kimothi enlightened the audience on importance of staying connected with one's roots and culture.
Local leaders MP Ravneet Bittu and MLA Simarjeet Singh Bains also came for some time to congratulate the organisers.
