A day after chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda laid the foundation stone of Ch Ranbir Singh university at Jind, Congress Rajya Sabha MP Birender Singh on Saturday lambasted him for establishing varsity in the name of his father and not naming it after martyrs like Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev or Rajguru.

Birender Singh, a bête noir of Hooda, and also a prominent Jat leader, said this while addressing a public gathering at Jind. Dubbing Hooda's move of setting up varsity in the state's hinterland in his father's name an attempt to promote dynastic politics, he said while the Banger area (Jind) were devoid of development in last nine years of Hooda-led government, the claim to set up the varsity is nothing but mere eyewash.

Labelling Hooda as chief minister of Rohtak district only, he said the CM has utterly failed to give equal weightage in development to all districts with equal wisdom and the result of which he would have to face in forthcoming state polls.

He urged the people of Jind to be cautious of Hooda's political rhetoric of being their real well-wisher in the July 25 rally during the foundation stone laying ceremony of the Ch Ranbir Singh University.
