Vegetable vendors booked for attempt to murder

The resentment shown by vegetable vendors against the tehbazari wing of the Municipal Corporation (MC) has landed them in serious trouble.


The Focal Point police have registered a case of attempt to murder and for creating hurdles before the tehbazari employees while performing their duty against vendors on Tuesday.

The case has been registered following the statement of Surinder Pal Singh, tehbazari superintendent, Zone-B of the Municipal Corporation.

In his complaint, Singh said that on Tuesday the teams led by additional commissioner Davinder Singh went to the Focal Point Road opposite Aarti Steel to remove encroachments, where vegetable vendors have established an illegal vegetable market by encroaching upon the MC land.

He said, as the wing initiated action against encroachers, vegetable vendors opened attack on the team and pelted stones and bricks at them.

Four employees, including the driver, Run Singh, of the JCB machine and policeman Kuldeep Singh suffered severe injuries in the incident.

Four vehicles of the MC, including a JCB were also damaged due to stone pelting.
Inspector Gurtej Singh, station house officer at Focal Point police station said that the police have launched a manhunt to arrest the accused.
