Victim's cousin among 3 convicted for murdering Faridkot youth

The court of the district and sessions judge here has held Amandeep Puri, 30, and his two accomplices Tek Chand and Ramu, also of the same age, guilty of killing Sahil Sethi, 19, a resident of the town. They had first kidnapped him and demanded ransom of `25 lakh from his parents.

The main accused Amandeep is a resident of Zira town of Ferozepur, who was first cousin (mama's son) of the deceased. He had first lured him to visit his place and then kidnapped him. Amandeep was allegedly under huge debt and wanted to make a fast buck.

According to the FIR in the case Sahil had gone missing on September 8, 2013. After investigation, the police had arrested the three and a case under section 302(murder), 365(kidnapping) and 201(giving false information, destroying evidence) besides section 34 of IPC was registered against them on September 23, 2013.

They had admitted to the police to have murdered the youth and throwing his body in the Rajasthan canal. The court is likely to pronounce the judgment in the case on Friday.
