Two days after beingchallaned for not wearing the seat belt, Ajaypreet Singh, son of LIP MLA Simarjeet Singh Bains, struck back and accused the PCR motorcycle squad for not wearing a helmet and not following traffic rules in Model Town near Guru Nanak Girls College.

On Saturday, a video surfaced in which Ajaypreet was seen arguing with cops, who were also present at the spot, when he was challaned by assistant commissioner of police (traffic) Manpreet Singh on Thursday.

Police personnel were seen stammering before him. The MLA’s son asked police personnel to phone their senior officer as he wanted to put up the matter before them.

The video was heavily circulated on the social media. Ajaypreet was seen asking a policeman why he was not wearing a helmet. Pointing at the cop, he said he was penalising him for not wearing the seat belt, but he wasn’t wearing head gear himself.

Ajaypreet’s friends pointed out that even the number plate of the vehicle was not appropriate according to rules. The cops were captured stammering that they did not manufacture the motorcycle. It was provided to them by the department.

When contacted, MLA Simarjeet Singh Bains, said he took away the SUV from his son after his behaviour with police as a punishment and asked him to go college in a city bus or three-wheeler.

He added that it was the duty of traffic police to punish violators and if one was wrong they should not argue with them. He said he appreciated police for taking action. While talking about the second video, Bains said police should also follow rules.

On March 16, police challaned Ajaypreet for not wearing the seat belt while driving his SUV. After he was challaned, Ajaypreet entered into an argument with a police officer, videos of which went viral on the social media
