Vij detects irregularities at Rai sports school

The minister, who was on way to New Delhi from Ambala, directed the sub-divisional magistrate to submit a report within a week.
Vij was annoyed over the state of affairs at the school and also sought explanation from two sub-divisional officers of public works (building and roads) department, namely GD Dua and JI Nain, an official release said.
The sports minister also directed the SDM to check the attendance register and leave record. During the inspection, he found that the mattresses in the hostel were old and in a bad condition and had no bedsheets over them. The toilets were also in dilapidated condition.
On checking the boxing centre, he found only 17 students present out of the strength of 50. When he asked about others, the coach said the absentees were sick. Upon checking the dispensary of the school, Vij found only two students there. He also found swimming pool in bad condition as there was fungus in water.
The covers of water tanks were open and this could lead to spread of diseases, the release added.
At the basketball court, Vij found only one coach on duty with 102 players. He said strict action would be taken against the erring officials.
