There was high drama and tension at two villages in Mansa after two girl students of Government High School in Khudal Kalan village were kidnapped by two young men. However, residents of neighbouring Akbarpur Khudal village rescued the girls.

The girls had reportedly ventured out of the school to get their aadhar cards made, when they were forcibly put in a car by the two boys.

Enraged villagers damaged the car of the accused and a police vehicle, after officials arrived at the spot and tried to take custody of the accused.

Mansa SSP Narinder Bhargava said, "The girls were kidnapped, but within minutes they were rescued by residents of the neighbouring village, who thrashed the accused. A case against the accused Balbir Singh (19) and Beant Singh Rinku (18), residents of Bareta in Mansa, has been registered under Section 365 (kidnapping) of the IPC."
