Perturbed over spate of allegations levelled against him by the Opposition, Himachal Pradesh State Youth president and son of chief minister Virbhadra Singh, Vikramaditya on Tuesday sent a legal notice to Bharatiya Janata Party general Secretary Randhir Sharma for accusations the latter made against him in a press conference here recently.
In statement issued on Tuesday, Vikramaditya termed allegations levelled by the BJP leader as “unsubstantiated” and “malicious”. He asked Sharma to apologise for his allegations, failing which he would be forced to file a defamation case against him in the court of law.
He alleged that Sharma had levelled “unsubstantiated” personal allegations out of frustration due to ongoing investigations into the chargesheet of the Congress against the “misrule” of the previous BJP government. “The BJP is facing the heat of probe following the chargesheet prepared by Congress against the previous government,” he said, adding that they were indulging in a spiteful propaganda against chief minister Virbhadra Singh and his family.
He dubbed Randhir's allegations factually incorrect, politically motivated and an attempt to harm his reputation. Further, he said allegations about the financial transaction were totally false as these transactions were transparent. “It is a right of every citizen to pursue their business and to buy or sell any property through transparent means,” said Vikramaditya.
He added that getting the bank details and Income Tax returns of any individual or family members by illegal means is an offence that has been committed by the Dhumals.
Vikramaditya said earlier Arun Dhumal, younger son of former chief minister Prem Kumar Dhumal, had held a series of press conferences in Shimla targeting the chief minister personally. “When he failed to evoke any public response, a national BJP leader raised the same old issues in New Delhi, which had nothing substantial in it,” he added.
He maintained that the BJP leaders were highlighting the same old issue time and again to derive political mileage out of it. “It shows the frustration of the BJP leaders, who were targeting the chief minister and have now started targeting me,” said Vikramaditya, adding that after a successful youth rally at Hamirpur, the BJP was after him.
He also said the BJP leaders should analyse their misdeeds before levelling false allegations against somebody. “Corruption was prevalent at every level in the state during the tenure of previous BJP government,” he alleged.
