During investigation of arrested Amandeep Singh Dhami, wanted in the US for murder, it was learnt that he used to get regular funds from his US based conduits through Western Union.

Dhami, who was living with the fake identity of Jujhar Singh in House Number 138 of Urban Estate Phase II, used to get regular funds from USA through Western Union, police sources said.

On October 8, Dhami received an amount of Rs 12,284 from one US-based Mandeep Singh and on November 25 another sum of Rs 6267 was sent to him by one Pawan Kooner from USA, Sources said adding that both the transactions were made by Western Union outlet at Urban Estate, owned by one Jasbir Singh.

Dhami was traced on the inputs given by the Interpol and Crime Branch of Police Headquarter swung into action and arrested him, sources said.

Although, officials of Crime Branch of Chandigarh, are tightlipped on the arrest of Dhami, however, a senior police official revealed that Dhami gave a slip to the team of Crime Branch, during its raid to Jalandhar and finally arrested from Mohali only. Several attempts were made to know the exact date of Dhami's arrest, but to no avail.

About six months back a team headed by Director (Operations) Edward Dowd of Confidential Investigating Agency Service of USA visited a city to inquire about Dhami and went to Police Station of Tanda in Hoshiarpur for investigation, police sources said.

Dhami was living in Urban Estate locality of the city for the last about two years and most of the time, he used to confine himself inside the premises, police sources said revealing that some of the youths were seen him visiting and efforts are on to identify them.

"Recently we had received complaints from the neighbours about suspicious activities of Dhami and it was planned by the city police to question him, but before that he was exposed by the crime branch", One of the police official, on the condition of anonymity said.

On August 31, 2008 Dhami and his friend Gurpreet Singh Gosal had entered the grounds of Sacramento Sikh Society and fired several shots while a cricket tournament was on, killing an Indian origin US Citizen Paramjit Singh Pamma.

After killing Pamma, Dhami escaped to Mixico, from where he procured forged travel documents on the fake identify of Jujhar Singh to visit India. The FBI has announced a reward of up to $20000 for information leading to Dhami's arrest.
