Weapons found in house near Modi rally venue

On the eve of BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi's rally, police recovered a revolver, a double-barrel gun and some cartridges from a house near the venue of the rally here.

The seizure was made from the house of one Rajesh Kumar in the Silver Estate locality during a search operation by the police near the rally venue. The man was apprehened immediately and was booked under section 188 of the Arms Act.

DSP Manoj Kumar told Hindustan Times that the accused was later let off as he secured a bail on the ground that he possesses a license for the arms.

However, he had not followed the instructions of the DC and had failed to deposit these arms keeping in view the Lok Sabha elections, the DSP added.

He further said that police have intensified the search operation which was started many days ago.

Modi is scheduled to address a rally on Saili Road here on Friday morning.
