The police have received a complaint of domestic violence against Kurukshetra University (KU) vice-chancellor Lt Gen DDS Sandhu (retd) from his wife.

Confirming this, deputy superintendent of police Satish Gautam said that a complaint was made on Thursday by Sandhu’s wife, Japjit Kaur, and the matter was being probed.

He clarified that no FIR had been registered as yet.

Gautam said that the complainant had accused Sandhu of shunting her out of the house on the KU campus and not supporting her financially. “Further action would be taken on the basis of the outcome of the investigation,” said the DSP.

Sandhu refuted the charges. He claimed that keys of the official bungalow on the KU campus were with his wife and he had not met her for more than six months.

“There is no truth in the allegations. I stay in Karnal as I have to look after my aged mother who suffered a stroke recently,” Sandhu told HT. He claimed his wife recently withdrew Rs 6.7 lakh of IT retur n paid by him and he was regularly giving Rs 40,000 per month to her. “Since she is occupying the KU bungalow, how can she allege I threw her out of the house. I do not know why she made these allegations,” claimed Sandhu.
