After remaining absent from his constituency for more than eight months, Amritsar MP Navjot Singh Sidhu will reach Amritsar on Wednesday afternoon.
After the MP had moved away from the political scene and his wife had claimed that he was sidelined by the party, Sidhu was mostly seen on TV shows.
Even as his differences with certain leaders are yet to be settled, an NGO led by a former Congress councillor had recently questioned Sidhu's absence from Amritsar as posters about the "missing Sidhu" had come up all over the city.
He was convinced by his wife and chief parliamentary secretary Dr Navjot Kaur Sidhu to visit the constituency and address the workers.
As there is a buzz in the BJP circles about the return, Dr Sidhu is trying hard to ensure an impressive welcome for his husband by the party workers.
She recently visited industry minister Anil Joshi to clear some "misunderstandings", and can also be seen at the local BJP office addressing workers on various issues.
However, it remains to be seen whether leaders such as Anil Joshi and Rajinder Mohan Singh Chhina would participate in the function.
With all efforts being made by Sidhu supporters to accord a warm welcome to the three-time MP, Sidhu himself has remained quiet over his political plans.
His absence from the city for long and uncertainty over contesting the elections has kept the voters as well as party workers guessing.
According to the programme, Sidhu will reach Amritsar at 1pm. From the airport to Circuit House, there will be BJP leaders and workers receiving him to show support.
After reaching Circuit House, Sidhu will participate in a function organised by the district BJP where he will address a gathering.
Later, Sidhu will hold a meeting with party workers and also meet officials from the administration. Dr Sidhu told HT, "The MP will meet the party workers and talk on various issues. He will also meet the officials and know about various projects of his constituency."
