A woman ended her life by hanging herself from a hook in her room on the intervening night of Thursday and Friday. She was under depression from the past two days as her husband had eloped with one of his co-workers.
The deceased has been identified as Pooja, 30, of Basti Abdullapur. She was living in a room on the third floor of a factory, where she and her husband Dalip Sahni worked.
The Atam Nagar police have taken the body in its custody and sent it to civil hospital for post-mortem examination. The police have filed proceedings under section 174 of the CrPC.
Ashok Kumar, a relative of Pooja, said she was disturbed as Dalip had eloped with a woman, who worked in same factory.
On Thursday night, she sent her children Sumit, 7, and Sahil, 1, to sleep at their relative's room who live on the second floor of the factory. Sumit was the first to witness his mother hanging. He raised the alarm following which people gathered at the spot and informed the police.
Ashok said the couple was living on the factory premises from the past few months, along with their two children, while one of their sons Arsh, 4, live in Hajipur, Bihar, with his grandparents.
