Harassed by husband, a 29-year-old woman hanged herself with her sash at her house on Friday evening. Though her husband tried to shape the matter as natural death and burnt the sash, on the complaint of victim's mother the police got conducted a post-mortem examination on Saturday which revealed that the woman died due to hanging.
In her complaint, Raj Dulari of Dhanroha Jattan of Kurukshetra in Haryana said her daughter Reena Rani married Raj Kumar alias Raju of Gurpreet Nagar of Daba around 10 years ago. Raju is labourer in a hosiery factory.
She further added that her son died in a road mishap a few months ago and she received `3 lakh as compensation. Raju, who was debt-ridden, was forcing Reena to get the money from them.
Succumbing to the pressure, Reena committed suicide.
When Raju come to know about the suicide, he cut the sash and rushed Reena to a private hospital, where the doctors declared her brought dead. To give it a shape of natural death, the accused burnt off the sash.
Sub-inspector Janak Raj of the Daba police station, who is investigating the case, said that the police have registered a case under sections 306 (abetment to suicide) and 201 (causing disappearance of evidence of offence, or giving false information to screen offender) of IPC against the accused who was at large.
The police have launched a manhunt to arrest the accused.
