Police on Thursday arrested the victim's wife and her paramour for the murder of Prem Singh of Pipli village in Shahkot sub-division.

Prem Singh was found dead outside his house on Monday. The police said the accused, Seema and Gurmit Singh Kundi, alias Kala, a resident of Katora village in Ferozepur, would be produced in court.

The police have registered a murder case under section 302 of the IPC on the statement of the deceased's brother, Kulwant Singh.

In a press conference, superintendent of police (detective) HPS Khakh said a case was registered at the Lohian police station on March 24.

Kulwant Singh had told the police that after his brother went missing under mysterious circumstances on March 24, his sister-in-law (victim's wife) called him.

The complainant said when he went outside the house, he found his brother's body nearby stained with blood.

Khakh said the police were suspecting Seema, Prem's wife, soon after the case was registered. With the help of the technical surveillance system, it was found that she had extramarital affair with Gurmit Singh, a truck driver, for one year and they exchanged calls on their mobile phones.

The SP said, "Seema revealed the entire incident to police after interrogation. After Prem saw her with Gurmit in a compromising situation, they planned to kill him," the SP added.

Khakh said Seema hit Prem on his head with a heavy stick and then Gurmit attacked him with a sharp-edged weapon.

Thereafter, threw the victim's body outside the village.

"We have recovered a pillow, one sharp-edged weapon and a wooden stick used in the crime besides SIM cards, a mobile phone. Both the accused would be produced in a local court," the SP informed.
