Wife, paramour get life term for murdering husband

A local court on Saturday sentenced to life imprisonment a woman and her paramour for murdering her husband in December 2011.

The court of additional sessions judge Mohinderpal Singh Pahwa sentenced to life imprisonment Paramjit Kaur and Jagsir Singh from Virk Kheda in Malout in Muktsar district for murdering the woman's husband Gitan Singh. One of the accused Vinod Kumar Saxena, a resident of Bathinda, is absconding in this case.

Kaur, along with the other convict and the accused at large, had murdered her husband in December 2011. His body was found after five months.

The victim, who was a retired army man, was employed at the Guru Nanak Dev Thermal Plant as security guard while his wife was an employee at a hotel in Model Town here as a receptionist. She had developed illicit relations with the convict and the accused who were also employed at the same hotel.

The victim, who used to object to their relations, was called at the hotel on December 29, 2011. Thereafter he had gone missing. The wife had lodged a missing complaint with the police in this connection. His body was found near Sangat Mandi in April 2012. A case against the accused was registered on the complaint by Nachhattar Singh, brother of the victim.
