The district police claimed to have solved a blind murder case in which a resident of Bhandal Bet, Harjinder Singh, was found brutally murdered near the Budhuwal village on August 18. Three people, including Harjinder's wife, Paramjeet Kaur, have been arrested.

The police have claimed extra marital affair as the motive behind the murder. Harjinder Singh, a resident of Bhandal Bet, was employed as a labourer with contractor Kulwant Singh, a resident of same village. Kulwant developed illicit relations with Harjinder's wife Paramjeet Kaur.

"Harjinder was very upaet and angry at her wife's murder and used to threaten his wife of dire consequences," Kapurthala SSP Ravcharan Brar said.

"Kulwant Singh and Harjinder Singh had been working in Jalandhar and used to come back on the same motorcycle. On the day of the murder (August 18), Kulwant Singh, took his nephew Harprit Singh, a resident of Shahkot along with them on separate motorcycle. They had a drinking session near Fattudhinga octroi post," said the SSP.

"After the drinking session, Harjinder started driving the bike with Kulwant riding pillion. Near Budhuwal village, Kulwant attacked Harjinder Singh with knife. His nephew Harpreet Singh helped him," added the SSP.

The police have arrested Kulwant Singh, Harpreet Singh and Paramjeet Kaur and booked them under section 302 (punishment for murder) of the IPC.
