Will Capt break his silence?

The silence of PPCC president Capt Amarinder Singh has baffled observers. The former chief minister was a member of the Patiala Technical Education Trust (PTET) for more than 15 years, before its name was changed to Thapar Education Trust (TET) on November 16, 2010.

In the document regarding the change in name, Amarinder, scion of the erstwhile princely state of Patiala, has been named as a member of the trust, which manages TU. But he is the only one among the seven trustees who has not signed the document.

Even as efforts to contact Amarinder proved futile on Saturday, his wife Preneet Kaur, who is the MP from Patiala and union minister of state for external affairs, said the royal family had no say in the trust's functioning "for the past many years".

"It is unfortunate that an institute situated in Punjab does not want to give preference to students from the state," Preneet added.
