In an attempt to strike a chord with the Sikh voter, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) supremo and Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday asserted that his party would ensure harsh punishment to those found guilty of sacrilege incidents in Punjab.

“It was very unfortunate that the SAD-BJP government, which claimed to be Panthic, failed to nab the real culprits of sacrilege incidents, including the one at Bargari village in faridkot district,” he said at a rally at Cheema Jodhpur village in Barnala.

“It was deeply painful to learn about incidents of sacrilege of Guru Granth Sahib, which is considered sacred not only by Sikhs, but also by the people of other religions, including Hindus, Muslims and Christians” he said.

In the recent past, he said, there were series of incidents of sacrilege of Guru Granth Sahib, Holy Quran and Bhagawat Gita carried out by some anti-social elements, who wanted to create a wedge between the followers of different religions.

Accusing the ruling Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) of making the state a drug haven, Kejriwal said his party will nab drug peddlers and rehabilitate addicts, if it comes to power in the state.

Referring to the SAD, Kejriwal said, “Instead of booking drug peddlers, they chose to falsely register a case against me. I come to attend court hearings every month, but I am not afraid of anybody.”

Reiterating his allegations that Punjab Congress president Capt Amarinder Singh’s family have Swiss bank accounts, he dared PM Narendra Modi to arrest the former CM. “If Modiji can dare, he should nab Captain. I am giving the details of his Swiss bank accounts of his family members.”

“Modi had two months to bring back the black money from Captain Amarinder and Badals, if he fails, I will do so,” Kejriwal said while addressing a rally at Nihalsinghwala in Moga district. He also dared Amarinder to file a defamation case against him. “If my allegations are false, Captain is free to file a defamation suit against me any time.”

Lashing out at Modi for his demonetisation move, he said, “Black money is with Modi, Badals and Captain, but the poor are made to stand in queues in front of banks. Saare desh ko dukhi ker rakha hai (He has made all the country suffer).”

He said AAP will open ‘mohalla clinics’ in Punjab on the pattern of Delhi within six months, if it forms the government in the state: “In Punjab hospitals, you have neither doctors nor equipment. We will overhaul the system.”
