Finance minister Parminder Singh Dhindsa said that state government will fill the backlog of physically handicapped in government jobs in the all departments.
Addressing a gathering at a Handicapped Awareness Conference organised by the Physical handicap association Punjab, Dhindsa said that the government will also consider the demand of hike in pension of the handicapped to provide them social security. He said that the state government will consider all genuine demands of the association.
He said that the these people are part and parcel of our society and the state government was committed to bring them in main stream so that they could leave a normal life. He also announced to provide Rs 2 lakh to the physical handicapped association Punjab.
The chairman of the association Kashmir Singh also gave a memorandum of 22 demands to the finance minister.
Speaking on the occasion, chief parliamentary secretary Parkash Chand Garg lauded Punjab chief minister Parkash Singh Badal for introducing welfare schemes for all section of society.
