A day after Punjabi singer Jazzy B was detained at the international airport here, he is reported to have submitted documents related to the excess cash he was carrying.

He was detained on Wednesday afternoon after landing here and let off after three hours of questioning. Sources said he had told the income tax officials that he had received this `5 lakh for an earlier college show in Delhi. Deputy director of income tax (investigation) MS Sehgal had confirmed on Wednesday that Jazzy B had landed here at 1.30 pm aboard a Go Air flight from Delhi.

The Chandigarh income tax department had caught him based on intelligence input.

On Thursday afternoon, the Canadian singer put his reaction on the social-networking media, that he is not going to go by air anymore. On Facebook, he posted a short video shot in his car with his driver, Minta, and a friend, which has a caption that reads “Bahut tang karade ah saale mere, Jatt go Canada in car (sic). Minta is no less than a pilot.” Most of his fans have supported him in their comments. “Why don’t you buy your private plane?” suggested one, while another wrote: “You should not carry so much cash. It is not safe.”

By 5.30pm on Thursday, almost 2,000 fans had liked his video and 24 had shared it on their Facebook accounts. The video has also gone viral on WhatsApp, and the detention has become a hot topic on the university and college campuses. “Officials always target celebrities and ignore the ministers,” said a student at Punjab Agricultural University (PAU). Jazzy B’s public relations officer and the Chandigarh airport authorities declined to comment; and Jazzy, whose original name is Jaswinder Singh Bains, could not be contacted.
