Delhi chief minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) convener Arvind Kejriwal promised to root out corruption in Punjab if his party is voted to power in the upcoming assembly polls.
“If we want to attract industry here and if we want to progress, then we will have to root out corruption and put an end to the inspector Raj, that is un-necessarily causing harassment to entrepreneurs, traders and other business classes,” he added.
Kejriwal made these observations in his meetings with business and industrial associations at the Circuit House here.
Industry representatives told the AAP convener of their problems, including the lack of infrastructure where their units are located. They also lamented that the electricity rates in the state were very high and despite being a border state, no special concessions had been provided to the industry by the central government.
The real estate association alleged that officials were demanding money for clearing files. The association lamented that the real estate sector in Punjab had collapsed due to the unfavourable policies of the government.
