From terming Arvind Kejriwal ‘Singham’ to making posters that say ‘Mufflerman Returns: The Corruption Hunter’ and ‘Capital Gets Its Own Nayak’ on the lines of superhero movies, the Aam Aadmi Party’s “jeet ka jhadu”, the ‘broom’ of victory, swept social media too on Tuesday.
One-liners and photos with catchy, tongue-in-cheek captions trended on Twitter and Facebook, and were shared on WhatsApp. A dig at Dera Sacha Sauda head Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, via the use of his upcoming movie’s title, stood out for its poignant statement against politics of religion was: “Even ‘Messenger of God’ was not able to save BJP.”
A photo collage comparing BJP’s Cm candidate Kiran Bedi, who lost her seat, and Kejriwal used a popular song: “Aunty Police Bulalegi; Aunty Se Jake Kehdo Ye ‘Party’ Yu Hi Chalegi’.”
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP chief Amit Shah were in the firing line too. A picture showed BJP’s senior leaders Murli Manohar Joshi, LK Advani, who have been sidelined by the Modi regime, and Atal Bihari Vajepayee with this comment: “Buddhon ka shraap kaisa laga!” (How did you like the oldies’ curse!)
The hero of the day remained Kejriwal: ‘Phata Poster Nikla Hero’, ;Fear is near: After 49 days of glory he is coming back to hunt corruption from every street of Delhi’. There was poetry too: “Aye Dilli tere aangan me naya sooraj chadne wala hai, suna hai mehnge suits pe muffler bhari padne wala hai."
