With no eyesight, Gurbax shows the way

His vision may be impaired, but he never let slip out his goal out of sight.

With zero eyesight since birth, Gurbax Singh scored 9.6 CGPA in Class 10, the results of which were declared by the Central Board of Secondary Education on Thursday.

A student of Guru Nanak Public School (GNPS), Sarabha Nagar, Gurbax who took the exam with the help of a scribe and clinched 9.6 CGPA in Class 10.

Talking to Hindustan Times, Gurbax Singh said, “I joined GNPS in Class 8 and without the support of my teachers, classmates and principal, I wouldn’t have been able to perform this way. My score in Class 8 was CGPA 7.5 and 8.3 in Class 9.

” Gurbax said he devoted three to four hours daily to studies and daily revised lessons taught in school.

Gurbax is not a bookworm. Besides studies, he has interest in music and wants to be a music teacher. “I want to teach music. I am learning music from Sukhwant Singh, principal of Gur Shabad Sangeet Academy, Jawaddi, Taksaal.”

His father Hardeep Singh is head of the computer science department at a polytechnic college, and mother Sukhpreet Kaur is a senior lecturer at a school.
