A woman of Poniwal village has accused her father-in-law Balbir Chand and brother-in-law Sonu of killing her husband Jassi Singh, 24.
Jassi Singh succumbed to the injuries suffered during a brawl with his father and brother at the village on Friday. The police have registered a case of murder against both the accused.
The police said the wife of the deceased alleged that her husband had a brawl with both the accused around eight days ago and he was attacked by sticks on his forehead.
The police said he was rushed to Rajindra hospital in Patiala, from where he was referred to the PGI, Chandigarh, where he succumbed to injuries on Friday.
Meanwhile, other family members of the deceased said that Jassi was a drug addict and, after having heated agreements, Jassi had an accident and suffered multiple injuries.
Station house officer (SHO) Rajwinder Singh said that the police have started investigation and appropriate action will be taken once they are clear about the cause of death after the viscera report.
