The Amritsar city police have booked three persons, including a woman, her son and another person in connection with the rape of a minor girl.

The accused were identified as Balwinder Kaur and her minor son, both residents of East Mohan Nagar, and one Harsimran Singh. A case has been registered against them under sections 376, 511, 120B of IPC, 67 of IT Act and 8 of the Prevention of Children from Sexual Offences Act at the B Division police Station.

The incident had occurred in March this year, but the case was registered on Saturday after almost nine months, on the complaint of Jasmeet Singh, father of the girl, and a resident of Circular Road.

In the complaint lodged with the police, he alleged that his daughter and the son of Balwinder Kaur, the accused, were good friends and used to go for tuition together, besides visiting each other's house frequently.

He alleged that on March 14, the accused clicked obscene pictures of his daughter, tried to rape her, after serving her tea mixed with sedatives.

He further alleged that after that the accused started blackmailing his daughter and pressurised her to marry him and harassed her by uploading obscene pictures of his daughter on a mobile application.

Inspector Iqbal Singh, SHO, B Division police station, said that the case was registered following recommendations from the higher police officials.

"The incident occurred in March, but the case was registered on Saturday as an inquiry was being held into the matter," he said. He added that efforts were being made to arrest the accused.
