A woman resident of Tagore Nagar was booked by The Salem Tabri police on Thursday for allegedly duping a man of Rs 7.5 lakh on the pretext of settling his son in abroad, who was already in Australia on study visa.

In his complaint, property dealer Sukhjit Sharma from Vishwakarma Colony of Basti Jodhewal area alleged that his son Sandeep Sharma, who was in Australia on study visa, was keen to settle down there.

He came in contact with Preetinder Kaur Bedi through a man, Tarlochan Singh, said Sharma, adding that Bedi demanded Rs 9 lakh to settle his son in Australia, but failed to keep her words. He alleged that Bedi returned Rs 1.50 lakh out of Rs 9 lakh and refused to return the rest of the amount.
