Woman ends life in Moga village

Upset and depressed due to her daughter's alleged abduction, a 45-year-old resident of Kokri Kalan village under Ajitwal police station committed suicide by consuming a poisonous substance on Friday.

Police have booked six people in this regard at the Ajitwal police station, though no arrests have been made as yet.

Ajitwal SHO said that the complainant Devinder Singh, Ranjit Kaur's husband, had lodged a missing complaint for her another family member the daughter and investigations were on in the case.

"The police had registered a case in this regard on November 30. The new incident was a shock."
The victim's complaint read: "Two main accused, Sukhpreet Singh and Hardial Singh, and four accomplices had abducted my daughter. When my wife approached the accused's house to inquire, she was insulted. She then consumed poison."

The body was brought to the police station for postmortem and was handed over to the family.
"We will wait for the report of the postmortem and action will be taken," the official added.

"A case has been registered against Sukhpreet Singh, Hardial Singh both of Kokri Kalan, Manjit Singh, a resident of village Kapoore, Gurpal Singh of Talwandi Bhangerian village, Jugraj Singh and Avtar Singh both of Doshanj village behalf of the statement of victim's husband," said Moga SSP Kamaljeet Singh.

The SSP added that a special investigation team had been formed for the purpose and another team had been formed under a DSP's supervision to nab the culprits.
