Woman gangraped in Talwandi Sabo, one arrested, two booked

The district police have arrested a man and booked two others, including an unidentified one, for allegedly gangraping a woman in Tawlandi Sabo near Bathinda.

On a complaint by the 27-year-old victim, a widow and resident of Paini Bagha, the police have arrested Nirmal Singh, a resident of Singhpura village in Haryana, and booked Khushpreet Singh from Khokhar village and an unidentified person under sections 376 and 34 IPC. The complainant alleged that the accused came on two motorcycles on Monday while she was on her way to meet her sister-in-law in Talwandi Sabo and forcibly took her on to a road towards Jajjal village and they raped her. Station house officer (SHO), Talwandi Sabo police station, Bhupinder Singh, said that the medical examination of the victim has confirmed the rape and the police were searching the other accused while the third one is yet to be identified.
