A 24-year-old woman has been arrested by the local police on the charges of murdering her husband on Saturday.

Amandeep Kaur, a resident of Panam village, was married to Sunny (26) two months ago following a love affair between them. After the marriage, the couple was living in a rented accommodation at Karyam Road, Nawanshahr, away from their families.

Police sorces said Amandeep developed an extramarital affair with Parwinder Singh just after her marriage. Her husband came to know it and the development soured their relationship. On Friday the couple had a heated argument over the matter, which turned into a violent altercation and Amandeep called Parwinder to her residence at night, who was drunk at that time. As he reached, the argument resumed and Parwinder hit Sunny with an iron rod on his head fatally injuring him.

Later, Amandeep, with the help of Parwinder, threw Sunny from the fourth floor of the building they were staying in. The family members of Sunny were informed by the neighbours that he is lying in a pool of blood.

Charan Das, Sunny's father said, "I received a call at midnight from the neighbours of my son who informed me about the incident. On reaching the spot, we immediately rushed him to civil hospital and informed the police."

However, Sunny succumbed to his injuries on Saturday morning. His body has been sent for postmortem in the civil hospital.

Dilbagh Singh Pannu, Superintendent of police (detective), said accused Amandeep Kaur and her paramour Parwinder Singh have been booked under sections 302 and 34 of IPC.
