A woman ended her life by jumping before a train near Nasrala on Wednesday. She was identified as Harbans Kaur of Piala village. The GRP staff said that the woman threw herself on the track when the Jalandhar bound DMU reached Nasrala at around 4 am.
The driver immediately informed the station master who, in turn, informed the police. The body was, however, removed from the site well after 7 am.
The cause of delay is attributed to the non-existence of a gazetted railway police officer in Hoshiarpur. On the arrival of one from Jalandhar, the body was taken to the civil hospital for a post mortem. Meanwhile, the aggrieved family members said they had no clue as to when she had left home. They denied that Harbans was under some mental pressure.
