Woman killed, 12 injured in road accidents due to fog

A woman died while 12 others were injured in different road accidents in the district on the first foggy morning of this winter season on Wednesday due to poor visibility.

Two school-going children and drivers of a school van and a truck were injured when both vehicles collided with a truck on the Bathinda-Mansa road due to poor visibility.

The accident took place at about 7am when a van of Delhi Public School here Bathinda was coming towards the city after carrying students from Maur near here and due to low visibility owing to dense fog collided with a truck coming from the opposite side near Maisar Khana.

The injured were rushed to the civil hospital.

The injured kids have been identified as Gopal and Aryan who, as per ASI Amrik Singh from Maur police station, have been discharged. He said the driver of the school van Gurmel Singh, a resident of Ghuman Kalan near here, is admitted in the civil hospital whose condition is critical. The driver of the truck has been identified as Gurwinder Singh from Sunam.
